Where is Cadiz?Cadiz is located in the south of Spain. It is a little island but rich in culture - especially when it comes to carnival! Carnival is a celebration that happens before lent. There are two popular places in Spain to celebrate this occasion - Cadiz being the major place. There is also a celebration in Tenerife but it is located in the canary islands which is quite harder to reach .
The good thing about Cadiz is that it is quick and accessible no matter where you are located. If in the south, from Seville it is less than a two hour train ride. Once you arrive it is extremely easy to walk from the train station to the center of town. All of the celebrations, parties, and events take place in the center of town - also known as old town. Throughout the city you are able to see little performances put on by the locals. At nighttime especially on Saturday's - it turns into a party. On Sundays around 5:30pm there is a huge parade it starts in old town and makes it s way to the "newer" part of town. Overall the best part of carnival is the food. Grab a drink, some tortilla camarones and watch the people. |
