If you ever find yourself deep in the heart of Texas or down in the south or close to the border or just in a town where "Ya'll" is commonly used - you have made it to Texas. I have come up with a list of recommendations of things to do.
If you do have the option -definitely road trip Texas!

Let’s start by explaining the basics:
I look at Texas as five parts:
North, South, East, West and the Midlands.
All have VERY unique characteristics - to say one part of Texas is like the other is not true at all.

The South
And then the MORE south you go - you’ll come across Houston.
I think it's best to sum up Houston as industrial with some culture sprinkled throughout. It is true- Houston is extremely diverse. However the problem is that Houston is also extremely large and spread out. Unlike cities such as New York where it is easy to mix with others of a different background and easily get from the Bronx to Manhatten - in Houston everything is wide and far apart, with unreliable public transportation, and you have to know where you are going otherwise you'll wind up in a highly commercialized area - not some ethnic foodie location.
As for the west and east - I highly encourage trips to the west of Texas but those are some extremely LONG road trips (think 8 -12 hours in a car depending on where you are coming with) it might be worth it to fly out that way and then rent a car.
Texas is huge - so huge that I have yet to explore the east and west. More to come!
